Perhaps the offering plate will always be passed inside of churches as a part of the “giving back to the Lord in thankfulness” part of the worship. But many modern churches have begun using credit card processing to process their members’ tithes and offerings as well.
All it takes is a credit card terminal back in the foyer or anteroom or perhaps a gateway on the church’s website. It’s a convenient way to accept donations.
Now, there are a number of people who would think it wrong for a person to put a donation onto a credit card and then pay interest on it as well. There may be some truth to that sentiment. But keep in mind: credit card processing terminals and gateways are for debit cards as well, and those are the same as writing checks from a bank account, only more convenient.
